Royal Malady is a genuinely independent artisan business.
We understand consumer behavior, because this Founder, Annie Liao Jones, loves to observe people who shop, knows the type, understands the hustle, we care about our customers, our retail partners and everyone in our supply chain - and they know us.
We know which brands we admire, and that's why we know where the bar is at. We don't consider them competitors per se, but knowing them & having them as part of our collection is why Royal Malady is top-tier.
We're strictly carried in the United States as of now, 2023, we're fully compliant with the International Fragrance Association guidelines on use and usage levels of materials.
We’re a sustainable human-scale business - and our philosophy is one bottle at a time.
We think both in terms of scalability and the humility is built-in.
At Royal Malady we're not into violating certain people's fundamental human rights, especially after we know people are fundamentally challenged AF. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labor and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person's liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. And it doesn't feel good to be misunderstood, taken for granted, and to be used and even after calling the posers out having them still at it, being fake right in front of us too. How uncool. Which is why we up the ante.
Abusive labour conditions can be sustained through the procurement of goods and services from unethical suppliers. As such, we are committed to ensuring that we only deal with and support ethical suppliers, to act with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implement and enforce effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chain. We expect the same high standards from all our contractors, suppliers and business partners and won't take breaches of our ethical standards lightly. If we are unable to work with our suppliers to influence and change any areas of concern, we will end our relationship with them.
Royal Malady is a niche perfumery that creates disruptive, iconoclastic fragrances to offset pretense and gifts those back to deserve it.
ALL MY MEMORIES ARE SCENT-BASED, AN I'M A TIME TRAVELER WITH AN INNATE KNOWLEDGE THAT I JUST KNEW AS A KID, IN SOLITUDE, WHEN I LOOKED IN THE WATER IN TAIWAN, AND THOUGHT TO MYSELF, 'I'M GOING TO MAKE SOMETHING OF MYSELF ONE DAY.' AND I DID WITH ROCK CANDY MEDIA & I WANT TO WITH ROYAL MALADY & RETAIL'S IN MY GENES.
I WANT TO MERGE MY SENSE OF OLFACTORY DESIGN INTO WORK THAT STANDS THE TEST OF TIME. PURITY AND GEOMETRY INSPIRE THE CREATION OF THE FRAGRANCES I MAKE AND THE BOTTLES I CHOOSE TO HOUSE THEM IN.
ROYAL MALADY TRANSCENDS WESTERN AND EASTERN INSPIRATIONS IN MY ATTIC I CONVERTED INTO A PERFUMERY. IT'S BEEN A JOURNEY TO THE EDGE OF REMOTE LANDS, NOT LITERALLY, BUT SOMEWHAT AND YOU CAN PHRASE IT THAT WAY, BUT IT'S WHERE MYTHS ARE BORN AND THE FUTURE IS DRAWN, AND THE RCM BOOK OF FUCKERY IS SOMETHING YOU'LL NEVER GET & WE KNOW IT, BUT IT WASN'T ANYTHING LIKE YOU THINK AND YOU'LL NEVER GET TOP-TIER LIKE WE DO, BUT YOU SHOULD WANT TO. MAN UP ALREADY, AND IT ISN'T BY GENDER, CLASS, OR RACE OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO THINK IT IS.
Transparency & owning it is a very big deal & always will be. Felt like I lowered myself like notches on a belt & don't wanna feel that way & here's a sanity check for all of us that really get authenticity & they're trying to take it & WE KNOW IT (and I most definitely know it).
